The AMALTHEA project kicked off in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on 6–7 November 2025, hosted by the project’s coordinator, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam).
Funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe Programme, AMALTHEA aims to advance a gender-sensitive and intersectional understanding of radicalisation and violent extremism. The project promotes evidence-based strategies and tools to support prevention, de-radicalisation, and community resilience across Europe.
As a core consortium partner, CONVERGENCE plays a central role in ensuring that AMALTHEA’s research and innovation are grounded in ethical excellence, responsible AI principles and societal impact. Specifically, CONVERGENCE leads the work on Ethics and Ethical AI Management, coordinates Communication, Dissemination, and Societal Impact, and contributes actively to the research phase by embedding intersectionality and gender-sensitive perspectives across the project’s methodologies and outputs.
The kick-off meeting provided an opportunity for partners to align perspectives, plan interdisciplinary collaboration, and reaffirm their shared commitment to AMALTHEA’s vision.
We are proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to contributing to AMALTHEA’s mission of fostering a more nuanced and human-centred approach to preventing and countering radicalisation and extremism.
